Developed a protocol analyser for the Base Station Controller-Base Station (BSC-BS) interface
of a TETRAPOL radio network.
Gained experience in TETRAPOL networks, Protocols, WAN, PCM link, UML, Visual C++, C++, C and
Multithreads. July 2001 -

BRITISH TELECOM, Adastral Park, Ipswich, England - One year placement.
Wireless Networks unit, Satellite team - 4 months placement.
Built a network-monitoring device for IP services over DVB-S links (Satellite Fast Internet).
The web-based application describes in real time some parameters of the service such as the number of customers on the service, download respond times and total rate on the service.
Gained experience in the protocols TCP/IP, DVB-S, IP over DVB, SNMP and PPP,
in ISDN, in the softwares MRTG, NTOP, and Ethereal, in the Satellites Communications, in the DVB Cards, in the Linux
OS Debian and kernel, in writing Scripts, in some Linux Features such as Iptables.
Multimedia & Applications unit, Broadband Multimedia team - 9 months placement.
Involved in a Btexact project on iTV (interactive TV). The developed ADSL service’s features include Electronic Program Guide, TV channels, Video On Demand, Internet access, on line banking.
Main task: Investigated, prototyped and tested IP over ATM video streaming architectures. This involves configuring Cisco routers, Marconi ATM switches, nCube video server and Motorola Set Top Box.
Configured, studied the software architecture and wrote C-programs for a Motorola Set Top Box.
Conducted a research on EPG (Electronic Program Guide) and wrote a report of my findings.
Evaluated some video real time encoder systems (encoders, decoders and multiplexers).
Wrote a web based inventory program, which made use of the PHP language and MySQL database.
